By
century’s end, the Philippines
will be NUMERO UNO - world’s
top producer of geothermal electricity.
Anecdote says Dr. Alcaraz borrowed
an old steam turbine from Mapua’s
ME Lab – to prove geothermal
steam can light a few incandescents.
We’ve gone a long way since
then. In the ‘70s, Filipino
engineers shared their geothermal
drilling expertise with Japan,
Malaysia, Indonesia, Papua New
Guinea, El Salvador, Guatemala,
Kenya and Iran. Another befitting
accolade. More>
